Unite Group, the UK’s leading developer and manager of student accommodation is currently in the process of building a 951 bed student accommodation block in the London borough of Newham. Construction of one of Europe’s tallest student residences is expected to be completed in 2014.

Residents will have easy access to the Olympic sports facilities in the Queen Elizabeth II Park and will be able to enjoy Westfield Stratford City’s 250 shops and over 70 restaurants and bars.  The property’s has superb facilities which include landscaped outdoor gardens, a first floor courtyard and terraced roof gardens to provide recreation space.

Concrete frame contractor P C Harrington is building the structural frame with Structural Systems (UK) Ltd providing all of the rebar detailing for the scheme.

UNITE’s development will bring urgently needed capacity for the 19,000 full-time students currently living in Newham.  Student demand in the borough is particularly high as it currently has only 1,200 bespoke student bed spaces. University College London has recent approval for a new 7,500 student campus next to the Park, so student numbers in the borough are set to continue to grow.
